RESEARCH & EDITORIAL POLICY

Good sources.
Clear limits.

This field guide was researched against primary government, county, program and public-agency sources on November 6, 2026.

What was researched

State water law and domestic wells; Pahrump Basin relinquishment; local wastewater approval; land use and housing classifications; title and access; solar and current tax guidance; lender and insurance questions; rural services and hazard screening; and eight county research pathways.

Facts, recommendations and unknowns

Quoted rules are paraphrased and linked to the authority. Buyer sequences and document lists are practical recommendations. Budget entries and contingency choices are visitor assumptions unless supported by the visitor's own quotes. A missing value is not treated as a known zero.

What a source check cannot establish

We have not inspected your parcel, tested its water or soils, searched its title, secured an engineering opinion, obtained an insurance or construction quote, or received a land-use approval. Official summaries can lag amendments; ask the controlling authority for current parcel-specific confirmation. Some main Elko county pages blocked automated access; the linked official handouts were inspected.

Keeping information honest

The Department of Energy's solar guide contains legacy incentive material. We use its general system-planning guidance and the current IRS page for the credit cutoff. Washoe's official temporary-quarters FAQs contain inconsistent extension descriptions, so this site does not promise an extension period. Older county handouts are identified as starting points for current verification.
